Farewell, Fab Four! Beatles Tribute Let It Be Sets Broadway Closing Date

The Fab Four are saying goodbye to the Great White Way. Let It Be, a musical extravaganza featuring the music of the Beatles, will play its final performance on September 1. The production opened on July 24 at the St. James Theatre on Broadway. It will have played nine previews and 46 regular performances at the time of closing.

The musical features a rotating cast that includes Graham Alexander, John Brosnan, Ryan Coath, James Fox, Reuven Gershon, Chris McBurney, Luke Roberts, Ryan Alex Farmery, John Korba and Daniel A. Weiss. Let It Be uses projection technology and 3D sound to take audience members from Liverpool’s Cavern Club to the heights of Beatlemania. The production features direction and musical supervision by John Maher.

Originally a West End tribute to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary, Let It Be continues to run at London’s Savoy Theatre. The production features classic Beatles songs, including “I Wanna Hold Your Hand,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Day Tripper,” “Strawberry Fields Forever,” “Twist and Shout,” “She Loves You” and more. Let It Be features sound design by Tim McQuillen-Wright, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by Gareth Owen, video design by Duncan McLean, costume supervision by Jack Galloway and technical supervision by Arthur Siccardi and Pat Sullivan.

No word yet on which show will move in to the St. James Theatre after Let It Be closes its doors, but The New York Post has speculated that off-Broadway hit Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 could transfer into the theater for a 13-week run, but all of the theater’s seats would need to be removed to accommodate the production.
